OSL Youth Ministry

Mission:

We are a faith body united in Christ,
Strengthened through community & Mobilized toward mission.

Vision:

To develop meaningful relationships with the students of St Petersburg, be vocal about the depth of sin
and our need for a savior, and encourage a life of humble sacrifice — rooted in Jesus Christ.

Kids Church
Ages 3 & Up (during school year)
Every Sunday during the 10:00 am service. Children ages 3 through 5th grade are invited to join us weekly for a special time of worship, fun, and learning about Jesus tailored just for their wiggly bodies! Our dedicated team of leaders usher the group out just before the sermon every week, for high-energy, age-appropriate lessons, crafts, games, and worship selected just for them. After the service, families can pick up their children in Wegner Hall. For more information on how to get involved, contact kristen.hitchcock@oursaviorfl.org.

Youth Groups
Spark Plugs – Grades 4 – 5
2nd & 4th Tuesdays, 3:15pm – 4:05pm

Mighty Sparks – Grades 2 & 3:
1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 3:15pm-4:05pm

We believe in equipping leaders at the elementary level, and we’re intentional about developing children with strong, Christ-like character. We inspire our youth to celebrate (join together for after-school fun), relate (deepen our relationships with Christ and each other), and demonstrate (reciprocate God’s love for us to the world around). Grades 6 – 12 (during school year)  Friday Nights 7-9pm – Wegner Hall

Life is full of challenges, we offer a fun, creative environment where our students can authentically encounter a Gospel-centered community. It is important to us that our students understand their value and identity in Christ while growing in their knowledge and affection for Jesus.

NAV’s
Grades 9 – 12 (during school year)  TBA
NAV small group (before U-Nite)  TBA

Moving on from 8th grade to high school is a BIG step. It is our hope that after middle school graduation, students would continue to be involved with OSL by becoming a NAV (non-adult volunteer). We believe that moving on from middle school has academic, social, and spiritual implications, as high school youth grow into leadership roles at our U-Nites; leading prayer, helping with set-up, facilitating sign-in/sign-out & being a role model that others would follow.

Service Events
Our youth served nearly 3,000 hours in the community last year alone! We love Tampa Bay, and make every effort to engage with the great community around us to share our faith and bless others. Join us for new and meaningful service events every month, including partnerships with Ronald McDonald House, Sabal Palms pediatric nursing facility, the Brain Tumor Alliance, the Tampa Bay Rowdies, and other creative groups. Whether you love making meals for our local fire fighters or working with small children, we have a place for you to do something special!

Social Events

We enjoy many off-campus events in our community, from swimming at the beach to rock climbing, concerts, sporting events, Rock the Universe, district retreats, and more. Please contact kristen.hitchcock@oursaviorfl.org for specifics on upcoming events and locations.

Youth Trips

Every summer, our youth embark on trips to serve and enjoy fellowship together in different locations. We’ve gone on mission trips to St. Louis, New Orleans, Chattanooga, and have enjoyed the National Youth Gathering in Louisiana and Minnesota. We’re thankful for opportunities to make lifelong memories on these trips!
