When it comes to following Christ’s example, it’s important that we remember his urging us to be peacemakers. And in a world where more and more people have begun to turn away from the church, it’s essential that we be the examples of light and hopefulness. One of the best ways to accomplish this is by taking part in outreach for the benefit of our local community. Here at Our Savior Lutheran Church, we invite you to take part in our various ministries that practice the art of healing and doing good in remembrance of him.
No child should have to experience the hardships that are associated with hunger. The Pack-A-Snack ministry is dedicated to alleviating this hardship in our community by sending 1,500 children home with a packed lunch. Last year, we assisted with three local elementary schools by ensuring that their students did not go home hungry.
Part of following Christ’s example also includes caring for the ailing and the wounded. On the second Sunday of each month, we will be providing worship and fellowship to the residents of the Egret Cove Center. No experience is necessary, just a smile and a loving heart.
In the book of Revelations, Christ says, “Come and see who is behind the door.” But for many Americans, vision is compromised due to health issues. By donating your used sunglasses and eyeglasses, we can assist those who see a brighter future in front of them.
The two words that our church is built upon are “live love.” Our Human Care ministry is here to live both of those words to their fullest. By expressing love and compassion to those who need it most, we can be the change in the world that we’d like to see.
For those who are entering their golden years and preparing themselves to enter the kingdom of heaven, care and compassion are desperately needed. Our senior ministry is devoted to this cause and is always looking for dedicated volunteers.
If you love the idea of getting involved and assisting the people in our community who need care, love, and charity, then we’d love nothing more than to have you visit us. While the world can be a scary place sometimes, his love and compassion can guide us through the darkest of times. For more information, give us a call at 727-344-2694.
