The park was privately owned and opened in 1947. This was one of Florida's prime tourist destinations in the 40's, 50's and 60's before Disney opened. The state purchased the Springs from the former owner and it is now known as Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. Your admission fee includes the Mermaid Show, River Boat Cruise and much more.
